The French voice actors behind the original Halo have publicly accused Microsoft of sidelining them after they refused to sign a contract containing an AI clause. According to BFMTech findings from a couple of months ago, the clause obliges voice actors to allow their voice to be used to train Microsoft’s artificial intelligence technology. Starfield‘s Terran Armada DLC followed suit, while Oblivion Remastered similarly dropped French voice acting despite previous Bethesda releases including full French dubbing. Now, a Change.org petition calling for the original Halo French cast to return has already attracted more than 20,000 supporters. “[B]ecause as far as we can tell, there also aren’t any clearly identifiable French actors credited for these new voices.
