Armenia has been elected Vice-Chair of the 49th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which will be held in Istanbul in June 2027. The decision was announced at the conclusion of the Committee’s 48th session, held in Busan, Republic of Korea, from July 19 to 29. Armenia, which currently serves as a member of the Committee, was represented by a delegation led by Aram Hakobyan, Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Armenia to UNESCO. The delegation also included representatives of the Ministries of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and of Environment, as well as national experts. A total of 25 new cultural and natural properties were inscribed on the World Heritage List during the session.
