Worcester could receive more than $6 million for upgrades to the DCU Center and expanded access to fresh groceries through the Massachusetts Food Trust Program.
According to a Patch of Worcester report, state Sen. Michael Moore (D-Millbury) said the Senate approved two Worcester-specific earmarks.
Those earmarks consist of $5 million in bond funding for building improvements and modernization at the DCU Center and $1.083 million to expand fresh grocery access in low- and moderate-income communities through the Massachusetts Food Trust Program.
The DCU Center is Worcester's city-owned venue, operated by Legends Global.
A $2.2 million upgrade to the DCU Center's arena sound system was completed last year to meet modern performance demands.
