A 23-year-old Union County man has pled guilty to killing a Campbellsville University student/athlete in 2024. Escalera was indicted by a Taylor County Grand Jury in late April 2024 for murder, third-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking. He recently pled guilty to murder as the other two charges were dismissed as part of a mediation agreement, according to a report by WKYT.com. Escalera was also a student at the school and won a wrestling state championship in 2017 while a student at Union County High School. Formal sentencing is scheduled for Thursday in Taylor County Circuit Court.
