Galesburg’s Verizon store is changing hands next month, but it isn’t closing, the company confirmed to WGIL this week. Jensen said the Galesburg store is specifically being acquired by Cellular Sales, and the change won’t affect customers. “On August 15th it will be a Verizon corporate store, and on August 16th it will open up as a Verizon authorized retailer operated by Cellular Sales.” Galesburg already has one Verizon authorized retailer: BeMobile, at 1223 N. Henderson St. Unlike a corporate-owned Verizon store, an authorized retailer is an independently owned business licensed to sell Verizon service and devices, rather than a store operated directly by Verizon.
