Until Friday, waste and recycling crews in Great Yarmouth will commence work at 5.30am instead of 6:30am in an effort to safeguard workers from the high temperatures. The East of England has also been officially declared as in drought status and an amber heat health alert is in place. Great Yarmouth Borough Council is urging people living in the area to ensure their bins are out before this time on their assigned collection day. A spokesman for Great Yarmouth Services said: "Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to provide essential services during the hot weather." In addition, the council is urging people to stay hydrated, minimise direct sun exposure and check on vulnerable friends, relatives and neighbours.
