Maryland wins temporary reprieve for school mental health funding

WBAL Baltimore News
A U.S. district court judge has granted a temporary restraining order blocking the U.S. Department of Education from cutting school-based mental health grants.
Earlier this month, Maryland and four other states sued the Trump administration, saying it was unlawfully planning to terminate the congressionally approved grants in violation of the Administrative Procedure Act and the U.S. Constitution.
Bowie State University and the University of Maryland, Baltimore would have lost $3 million for mental health-related programs.
Maryland has gone to court repeatedly to fight for the grants and has won six favorable rulings against the administration so far.
The temporary order will expire on Aug. 24.
