On Wednesday, Baltimore City Council President Zeke Cohen joined the “C4 and Bryan Nehman” show to discuss some of the biggest issues facing Baltimore, including the mayor’s reversal on the BGE conduit agreement.
Last month, the city said it would end a 2023 agreement that allowed BGE to make about $120 million in conduit upgrades instead of paying a franchise fee.
The city is now proposing to charge conduit users $4.05 per linear foot, up from $2.20 in 2027, saying costs have risen.
“We need to use our own analysis of where we need to do the most infrastructure investment,” Cohen continued.
Cohen said BGE sees record profits year after year and, in turn, residents see an “enormous increase” in their bills.
