Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters responded to the blaze near Crockenhill Road after receiving their first call about 1.20pm yesterday (July 28).
The blaze scorched around half an acre of a cornfield and also damaged two motor vehicles and an outbuilding.
Responders were able to bring the fire under control by 3.29pm with the help of firefighters from Orpington, Sidcup, and Eltham.
Despite the destruction, the fire could have caused more damage had it not been for fire breaks placed on the field before the blaze started, according to the London Fire Brigade.
"Limiting the spread of the fire allowed our crews the time to get the fire under control before it could do anymore damage.
