A major emergency service response was dispatched to West Mersea beach on July 22, after six people were reported to have gotten into difficulty in the water. A seven-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition and placed on a life support machine. He has sadly died a week on from the incident and has now been named by his family as Musa. Three other people taken to hospital on July 22 are believed to be recovering, with no wider known update on their condition. "One tide, when it hit them hard all of them their feet went off… And this is where the panic mode started."
