Lorry crash and fire on A1 referred to watchdog after 'earlier incident'

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) confirmed it had received a referral from Cambridgeshire Police relating to a crash near Peterborough.
Emergency services were called to the A1 after reports of a crash between two Scania HGV's at just before 3am on Tuesday (July 18).
He was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while over the drug-drive limit, and possession of cannabis.
An IOPC spokesperson said: “The referral relates to prior police contact with the driver of one of the vehicles involved on Monday night.
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police added the incident had been referred "in relation to an earlier incident involving one of the vehicles."
