The resort city of Sanya, located on the coast of the southern Chinese province of Hainan, is preparing to establish one of the country's first national pilot zones for science and technology-focused secondary education, Sanya Ribao reported. According to the newspaper, the Chinese Education Ministry previously published a list of 135 settlements where such zones are planned, and Sanya is included on that list. In addition, Sanya’s general education institutions plan to incorporate innovative subjects into the curriculum, establish technical clubs, modernize laboratories, and improve students’ literacy and practical skills. The Sanya administration has been supporting plant breeding and deep-sea technologies in recent years. In addition, many schools in the city offer courses in 3D printing, robotics, and unmanned technologies.
