The canvas for Adam’s maiden voyage was a 1997 BMW K 1100. A running BMW K-Series can often be found on the used market for between $2,000 and $3,000, while abandoned or non-running projects can change hands for under $1,000. Adam spent well over a year meticulously transforming the K 1100 from an overweight sport-tourer into a lean, usable café racer. The rolling stock consists of cast wheels borrowed from a BMW K 1200RS, wrapped in Pirelli rubber. He took a heavy, complex piece of engineering, mastered it in a home garage, and emerged with a high-caliber café racer on his very first attempt.
