Speed has never been New York Jets receiver Arian Smith’s problem, as opposing defenses learned during his five seasons at Georgia. But the most significant criticism of Smith resurfaced during Wednesday’s practice, when the second-year wideout dropped an easy pass from rookie quarterback Cade Klubnik. He ran a 4.36-second 40-yard dash at the 2025 scouting combine and averaged 36.5 yards on his 10 college touchdowns. So when the Jets used a fourth-round pick on him last year, they were understandably expecting to add a developmental Day 3 receiver with explosive speed. For his sake, Smith had better hope that Wednesday is the last time he drops a pass before Labor Day.
