SP Electricity North West has launched a £16 million upgrade to the power network, focusing on improving long-term reliability for thousands of homes and businesses across South Cumbria. Jonathan Eggleston, head of operations for the region at SP Electricity North West, said: "It's always an exciting time when multimillion-pound projects get underway as it signals the start of transforming a power network. "It was also a major positive to welcome Tim Farron MP to site and discuss the scale of the project in detail. Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron visited the site to meet the project team and see the works first-hand. "The severe impact of storms, particularly Storm Arwen, highlighted how fragile the network can be as residents were left without power for several days.
