The Sun Inn, based in the Cumbrian village of Dent, is at risk of being sold and developed, but a campaign group’s buyout offer has been accepted by the owners. The Save Our Sun campaign now needs to raise funds to cover a full building survey and legal costs before moving forward. "We are calling on former patrons, local businesses and visitors who value the pub’s social and historic role to donate and share the campaign on their social media." Mr Povey said: "Dent wouldn't be Dent without the Sun Inn, and if there were only 500 traditional village pubs left in Britain, we would want The Sun Inn to be one of them. The Dentdale campaign follows a similar success in Swaledale, where the community purchased The Farmer’s Arms in Muker and now runs it.
