Clare Skyrme was remembered in a packed candlelit vigil outside the South Lakes Birth Centre in Barrow last night (July 28). Staff wore their uniforms to the vigil as a mark of respect for the mother-of-two after she died on July 21, 2026. Mark previously spoke of how Clare “was an amazing person and sister, she was a fantastic midwife well loved by everyone that came into contact with her”. Clare was just the most gorgeous person and the most inspiring midwife, her kindness just shone through in everything she did.” Another said: “Clare gave me my first job as a midwife and then supported me on many a busy day at St Mary’s.
