Malmesbury’s 15th-century Market Cross is undergoing two weeks of repairs, which began on July 27. The Grade I-listed structure will benefit from renewed lead flashings, repointing, repairs to its buttresses, and moss removal. Karen Drake, deputy mayor of Malmesbury, said: "The Market Cross was built in 1490 and is a large jewel in Malmesbury’s crown, much admired by visitors and celebrated by householders. Work will not require nearby road closures, and businesses have been notified in advance. Stonemasonry contractors Minerva, who have previously worked on the monument, were chosen for the project due to their familiarity with the structure.
