The #BeMoorAware campaign, which began in West Yorkshire, returns this summer with the backing of North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, and Humberside fire and rescue services. Earlier this month, West Yorkshire Fire Brigade was called to a major moorland blaze near Ilkley. "While the number of wildfires this year is lower than last, it only takes one spark to cause significant damage. The campaign promotes safe and responsible behaviour in the countryside, aiming to reduce the number of preventable wildfires during the busy summer season. Chris Tyler, group manager in South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service’s community safety team, echoed the call for public support.
