Under pressure from BRS, Telangana govt begins pumping water in Kaleshwaram projectThe Telangana government has resumed pumping operations under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme after heavy rainfall boosted inflows into the Godavari and Krishna rivers. Water is being lifted from major projects like Sripada Yellampalli and routed to reservoirs, easing drinking water and irrigation concerns. The Irrigation Department restarted lifting Godavari waters from the Sripada Yellampalli Project through the Nandi Pump House under Link-II of the Kaleshwaram project. The Nizam Sagar project received an inflow of 6,585 cusecs, with the water level touching 1,395.40 feet and storage reaching 7.139 TMCft. With the officials predicting heavy rains across the State for next three days, the government is expected to ensure adequate drinking water supply across the State and also irrigation water supply in a few parts.
