Edward ‘Teddy’ Penn, 97, and Mary, 88, marked their platinum milestone with a family tea party at Braemar Lodge care home, where they now live, receiving a congratulatory card from the King.
The couple’s story began in Cyprus in the mid-1950s, where Teddy was serving as an Army captain.

The couple later returned to Salisbury, where Mary had earlier links to the city through acting at the Salisbury Playhouse.
Only around 30 couples in the UK celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary each year, making the milestone one of the rarest in married life.
