The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has re-rated both the maternity departments at the Princess Royal Hospital, in Haywards Heath, and St Richard’s Hospital, in Chichester. The maternity services at both hospitals were also rated as requires improvement for being safe and well-led, but were rated good for the effective, caring and responsive categories. Following a previous inspection at the hospital’s maternity department, inspectors identified a breach of the regulations relating to staffing, which the CQC said remains unresolved. At both hospitals, women weren’t always seen within 15 minutes of arriving at the maternity assessment unit.
