Milwaukee Water Works sought a new supplier, but no bids were received by the July 27 deadline. "This temporary adjustment is driven by supply availability and does not affect the safety or quality of Milwaukee's drinking water," said Patrick Pauly, Milwaukee Water Works superintendent. "Research has shown that children that live in communities with fluoride in the water, they have less decay than children that live in communities without fluoride in the water, " Gonzalez said. Milwaukee has added fluoride to its water since 1953.
