The ringleader behind an infamous prison riot died from lung cancer in hospital while in police custody, an inquiry has ruled.
He was recalled to prison in Inverness in November 2023 and within days was given tests for suspected cancer.
In his conclusion, Sheriff Aitken said: “Mr Gallagher’s death was due to his medical condition.
Sadly, Mr Gallagher was one of those people.
Mr Gallagher’s death is no doubt still very keenly felt by his family.”
