The closure is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 9.30am to 3.30pm to allow for the repair or replacement of a defective frame and cover. A spokesperson from Dudley Council said: "The restriction is required to safely facilitate a replacement or repair of a defective frame and cover." Traffic will be diverted via the North Route: Sedgley Road, Birmingham New Road, Woodcroft Avenue, Wrens Avenue, Lea Green Avenue, Foxyards Road and vice versa; and the South Route: Woodcroft Avenue, Birmingham New Road, Dudley Road, Sedgley Road West and vice versa. Access will be maintained for residents and emergency services where safe to do so.
