"We came up with the idea to carry a 20-foot-long log, which is 800mm thick and weighs more than 150 kg. "The idea is to have three teams of eight; once the log is raised, it does not get put down for 24 hours. "Each team then walks one mile to hand over to the next team and continue throughout the 24 hours; between the 3 teams over that time, they would have covered 8 miles each. "Carrying a heavy log for 24 hours symbolises the burden that cancer patients and their families carry, but it also represents strength, teamwork, hope and never giving up.
