People have been trying—and mostly failing—to change their eye color for a surprisingly long time. During the Holocaust, the Nazis commissioned Projekt Augenfarbe or “Project Eye Color.” Another study found that 68.8% of patients with cosmetic iris implants have had them removed due to severe complications. (Cosmetic iris implants have never been approved in the United States or Europe.)
