ROCHESTER, N.Y. — As of Wednesday, Aug. 5, Mayor Malik Evans has extended the order that restricts groups of 10 or more people from gathering in public places at night without a permit for another five days. Additionally, as of Aug 6., the City of Rochester’s Gun Violence Emergency Proclamation has been extended another 30 days. The emergency order, which falls under the Gun Violence State of Emergency, must be extended every five days to remain in effect. The city says it won’t shut down protests, other forms of protected First Amendment speech, or religious gatherings. Also, the city won’t stop workers from gathering for an employment purpose, stop people from gathering if they need to evacuate a building, or shut down properly permitted events.
