East Devon District Council has confirmed it has received an outline planning application for land between the A3052, near Crealy Theme Park & Resort, and the A376 near Clyst St George.
During preparation of the draft Local Plan, the authority instead identified land between the A30 and A3052, east of Westpoint, as its preferred location for the proposed Marlcombe new town.
East Devon District Council said planning applications do not have to be on land allocated within a Local Plan before they can be submitted.
