The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services has marked a milestone with its 40th Disaster Relief and Home Repair Grant Distribution, providing financial assistance to 70 households in the Tunapuna/Piarco and Arima regions. Of the total allocation, 44 Disaster General Assistance Grants worth TT$397,923 were distributed to 142 beneficiaries. She added that the ministry would continue clearing application backlogs, modernising social services and ensuring assistance reaches deserving citizens. Mohit also outlined plans to improve the disaster relief process through the use of digital technology, enhanced assessments and more efficient payment systems. “We are transforming the way disaster relief is delivered by embracing modern technology, improving transparency and accelerating the delivery of assistance.
