As a result, Singapore's natural increase, which is calculated as the difference between births and deaths, narrowed significantly in 2025. The median age at death rose to 78.2 years in 2025, continuing an upward trend from 76.1 years in 2016. Women lived longer than men on average, with a median age at death of 82.5 years compared with 75.7 years for men. The median age was 72.5 years among Malays, 72.3 years among Indians, and 68.8 years among residents of other ethnicities.
