Dr. Anthony Fauci is set to testify today before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, in a hearing expected to focus on the origins of COVID-19 and newly released diary entries from his time leading the government's pandemic response. On Monday, Paul released an additional roughly 500 pages of Fauci's work records and emails spanning 2001 to 2015. His last major congressional appearance was a contentious House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing in June 2024. Wednesday's hearing follows Paul's subpoena of Fauci in June after Fauci indicated he would not appear voluntarily. Lawmakers are expected to question Fauci both about the diary entries and about broader decisions made during the pandemic response.
