Giants’ roster longshot catches much-needed break before training camp

New York Giants second-year tight end Thomas Fidone II had a pretty eventful rookie season.
On one hand, it was a success: the 23-year-old defied the odds as a seventh-round pick to secure a spot on the initial 53-man roster.
While Fidone made the roster last year, there are no guarantees this time around -- especially not with the amount of competition he'll be facing.
With Likely and Johnson expected to handle most of the receiving work and Manhertz filling the blocking role, Fidone’s clearest path is becoming the do-everything fourth tight end who busts his you-know-what on special teams.
Ultimately, just getting onto the grass in West Virginia is a massive first victory for the second-year tight end.
