Johnson County Secondary Roads news releaseJohnson County, Iowa – Weather permitting, construction on the Morse Road improvement project between Highway 1 and Wapsi Avenue is expected to begin Thursday, July 30, 2026. Morse Road will generally remain open to traffic during construction, but motorists should expect delays due to daytime lane closures. Traffic will be reduced to one lane during working hours and directed by flaggers and pilot cars. At one point during construction, Morse Road will be fully closed for approximately four days for a 600-foot section beginning on Highway 1. A signed detour will be in place while the road is closed.
