Edward Gene Smith pleaded guilty to drugging and sexually assaulting women, while also receiving child pornography, according to New York authorities. “Edward Gene Smith is a sexual predator and a serial rapist,” U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton said in a press release. Smith, a former Citigroup managing director, targeted women who were significantly younger, according to a superseding indictment obtained by Oxygen.com. “There is something particularly traumatic about being raped by someone a victim knows and had even liked or trusted,” Smith wrote, according to the AP.
