The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has temporarily paused upcoming deadlines in its review of fees that prevent Canadians from switching cellphone and internet plans.
Major telecoms including Bell, Rogers, and Telus were originally required to submit their responses by July 30, 2026.
Both Bell and Rogers also filed submissions in response to those requests.
The CRTC said the pause gives everyone more time to review its upcoming decisions on these requests.
Last month, the CRTC threatened Rogers, Telus and Bell with $10 million fines over these new fees, asking carriers to file formal responses by July 30 and replies due by the end of August.
