FARGO, N.D. – Valley Process Technologies is set to expand its operations into Fargo following approval of a five-year property tax exemption by the city’s Economic Development Incentive Committee. The company, which produces specialized, non-hazardous cleaning and process chemicals for biofuels, ethanol, and sugar beet processing facilities, plans to reactivate a former Clinagen facility on 42nd Street and Main Avenue. Company CEO Mike Thummel noted that while their primary manufacturing footprint remains in Wahpeton, the new Fargo location will support expanded manufacturing of enzymes, yeast, and value-added agricultural bio-products. “Where we’ve set ourselves apart is we’re the only company in the United States currently that’s offering a non-hazardous alternative to hazardous chemicals,” he said. The proposal passed the committee unanimously and now moves forward for final approval by the Fargo City Commission.
