Ministry of Information and Media, Permanent Secretary, Thabo Kawana has urged Zambians to reject political leaders seeking to return to previous administrations’ policies. Mr Kawana argued that doing so would reverse the country’s recent progress and revive hardships experienced under the previous administration. He said government was concerned that some opposition politicians, particularly those who served in the previous administration, wanted to reverse the gains made under the current government. Mr Kawana claimed that a return to the previous administration would mean bringing back challenges such as delayed salary payments for local authority workers and civil servants. He also pointed to developments in the mining sector, saying the reopening of Mopani Copper Mines and Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) under President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration had restored productivity and jobs.
