Duane Hill, District Engineer for the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s District 1 office in Duluth, will retire in August after 35 years of service. Hill started at MnDOT in 1991 as a graduate engineer in Duluth and later worked in Bemidji before returning to Duluth for leadership roles. Andy Johnson has been named the new district engineer for District 1 and began the role on July 15. Johnson has 28 years of engineering experience, joined MnDOT in 2003 and has spent the last 19 years in District 1 working in program delivery and operations.
