NewRange Copper Nickel has submitted proposed changes for their project. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has announced it is reviewing some proposed changes to the NorthMet Project, a planned mine north of Hoyt Lakes, to see if further review is needed. The DNR will decide over the next month whether those proposals require a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS). The proposed changes could also require new or amended permits from state, federal and local agencies before construction and operation can begin. The original NorthMet design was itself the product of one of the most extensive environmental review processes in state history, built on years of rigorous study and engineering.
