The Hiawatha City Commission approved an ordinance for a new housing development on the city’s west side, known as the Villas of Beautiful Maples. The project includes 10 duplex units and will be part of a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District. The ordinance allows the developer to be reimbursed for infrastructure costs. The commission also approved funding for improvements to the city’s north sewer lift station and the replacement of a deteriorating intersection near the middle school.
