While at the college and university, Sanders helped create Leadership Fort Smith and was the program’s director for 10 years. “I had the privilege of knowing Dr. Sanders not only as an outstanding leader but as a person of integrity, grace, and genuine kindness,” McGill said. On behalf of the city of Fort Smith, I extend my deepest condolences to Sandi, her family, and all who loved and admired Dr. Sanders. Her successes led her to being recruited to Westark Community College to establish the first community service classes, ultimately serving thousands of students and community members.
