AdvertisementCOUNCILLORS in West Limerick are not banking on the success of a 35-bed tourist hostel in Abbeyfeale, instead considering it a missed opportunity for a community crèche in the centre of the town. A Part 8 for the proposed hostel, at the site of the former Bank of Ireland in The Square, Abbeyfeale, was before councillors at the recent Newcastle West district meeting. The redevelopment will consist of change of use of the bank’s ground floor and the residential unit at first and second floors to a hostel. During a presentation from the local authority, Council members were informed that the hostel will have nine bedrooms, consisting of 35 beds. The proposal includes an accessible double bedroom on the ground floor, a double en-suite bedroom is also in the plans for the second floor, with the other dormitories all sleeping between three and six people.
