On the Arabian Sea coast, the Ras al Jinz Turtle Reserve protects a major green turtle nesting site, where around 20,000 females come ashore across a season that peaks from May through September. On Nevis, the Four Seasons Resort has worked for 20 years with the Sea Turtle Conservancy, which calls itself the oldest sea turtle research organization in the world. It is believed to be the second-largest leatherback nesting beach in the world, after Gabon.
