Chilton burglar tried door handles and took VW after swiping keys as homeowner slept

Jack Oughton, from Chilton, then drove off in the Volkswagen, which was parked on the drive of a home he entered on Colburn Avenue.
She thought it may have been caused by her cat, but on looking outside saw her car had gone.
Further inquiries revealed he had been attempting a number of house doors including in nearby Russell Court, Claxton Court and Elwick Avenue.
He also admitted theft of the VW Beetle car, plus 11 counts of attempted burglary, all early on June 25.
Judge Jo Kidd said: “His behaviour was to try door handles to potentially have the opportunity to break into properties in the early hours of the morning.”
