Three Darlington shops shut down after thousands of illegal cigarettes seized
['Amelia Anderson']
The Northern Echo | News
The operation targeted illegal tobacco sales at multiple shops across Darlington during a day of action yesterday (July 28).
Just under £3,000 worth of illegal cigarettes and hand-rolling tobacco were seized from an unlocked vehicle linked to Vape City on Bondgate, while more than £5,000 of illegal products were found at Cherry Berry on Parkgate.
The premises must remain shut until midnight on October 29, 2026, though trading standards may apply for an extension.
The action is part of Operation CeCe, a wider investigation into the distribution of illegal cigarettes and vapes in Darlington, including their alleged sale to children.
