Taxi erupts into flames on Darlington street as firefighters called to scene

Firefighters were called to Milbank Road, near the junction with Woodland Road, on Tuesday (July 28) after a red car set ablaze just before 2pm. A dramatic image taken from the scene shows flames engulfing the front of the taxi, which is parked outside the gated entrance to a home. The image shows flames pouring from both the inside and outside of the vehicle, with the red paint already blackened by the fire. A spokesperson said: “Shortly before 1.55pm on Tuesday, we received a report of a vehicle fire at the junction of Carmel Road and Milbank Road, Darlington. “One fire engine from Darlington attended, leaving the scene shortly after."
