The Beatles’ landmark Rubber Soul is getting the deluxe treatment this fall, with an expanded special edition arriving Oct. 2 featuring newly remixed audio, a wealth of previously unheard recordings and what may be its biggest archival surprise yet: “Little Girl,” a never-before-released John Lennon song outline that has apparently never even been rumored among Beatles collectors. Those innovations helped establish Rubber Soul as one of the defining albums of the rock era. The expanded editions also include the original mono mix, the original Capitol U.S. album and the contemporaneous “Day Tripper”/”We Can Work It Out” single. Among the biggest draws for longtime fans are 24 early session recordings, including 20 previously unreleased takes and three previously unheard home demos. The collection also includes a newly released take of “Michelle,” available now as an advance preview.
