News ReleaseMETAMORA – The Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites will begin restoration work at the Whitewater Canal State Historic Site after securing $14.4 million in state funding and grants for the preservation project. The work also will preserve other significant canal infrastructure at the historic site. Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites officials said the restoration reflects years of collaboration with Metamora residents and local partners to preserve the canal site. The project is expected to take several years, with additional planning underway for future restoration phases and long-term operation of the historic site.
