News ReleaseELKHART – The Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra will be holding auditions for substitute and extra musicians – brass, woodwind, strings and percussion – from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Concord Junior High School, 59397 CR 11, in Elkhart. These auditions are not for replacing regular orchestra members but rather to add depth to the orchestra’s list of substitutes and extra musicians. “The Elkhart County Symphony truly embodies the sense of a community symphony, and not just because so many local folks come to our concerts and programs,” said Glenn Northern, longtime music educator and Penn High School band leader who began in his new role as the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra executive director to start the summer. “More than that, the spirit and the sound of the Elkhart County Symphony – to a great degree – comes from within.
